The keynote address will feature Dr. David Nkedianye, Governor of Kajiado County, Kenya and Maasai pastoralist. Dr. Nkedianye received his PhD from the University of Edinburgh and has led research on drought mitigation, climate change, and human livelihoods in pastoral systems. Dr. Nkedianye established the Maasai-led Reto-o-Reto Foundation to better link local pastoral communities with policy makers and scientists. He was a Practitioner Fellow for the founding cohort of the Center for Collaborative Conservation at CSU, has worked as a consultant and Research Scientist at the International Livestock Research Institute, Kenya, and has served as Deputy Coordinator for the Centre for Sustainable Dryland Ecosystems and Societies at the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
